Christmas in the Shed - Cassette
Christmas in the Shed takes a lighthearted, Australian look at Christmas and places the birth of the Christ child within the Australian culture. No reindeers or snow but rather more familiar Australian animals along with dust, heat, a back yard shed, shearers, a pub, Afghan camel drivers, cattle dogs, truck drivers, country firefighters and more. As a sequel to the popular Christmas in the Scrub it continues to explore what might have happened if the baby was born in Australia.
Leigh Newton once again works his magic in writing songs for little tackers through to grandparents. Among the other songs are 8 from popular children's writer Gerry Holmes.
An example from the collection:
It's hot here in December, Santa's in his shorts and thongs
He says to Rudolph, 'Fly in low, we'll skim those billabongs'
And he doesn't look for chimneys for sliding backwards down
He'll just tip-toe up the backsteps when there's no-one else around
