Living On :a guide to living on in the thoughts and memories of those you love
'A few years ago, a doctor asked me to do something difficult. A gravely ill pa teint, a young mother of three, wanted to make a tape recording for her children. There was so much to say and so little time to do it that she felt overwhelmed by the task. The doctor asked if I would draw up a simple plan to help her make the tape. It should be designed to prompt and help her through the process. The young mother like the plan and showed it to her cancer specialist, who made copies, saying he would like to give it to other patients. Along the way, it was suggested that I expand the idea and write plans for video recordings and letters too. With my background in health writing, I decided to compile them all into a small book. For help with writing the book, I turned to my eldest daughter, Emily… As far as we know, LIVING ON is the first book to concentrate on the practicalities of leaving an emotional legacy, when time is short.' - Jill Margo, January 2008
When time is short, most people make sure they have a formal will to guide the distribution of their possessions. But many also want to leave a legacy of their personal experiences, beliefs and values. This has been called a 'heart will'. LIVING ON is about creating your own heart will - a way to be heard when your voice is still.
'When faces with our death, we reflect upon our life and what we would like to be remembered by. LIVING ON tackles this difficult subject with sensitivity. Full of practical suggestions, it is an invaluable resource to stimulate one's own creative ideas so that we leave behind a lasting gift of love.' - Petrea King, Founding Director, Quest for Life Centre
