The point about boundaries is that they are not usually pleasant or comfortable places. It is here that our territory ends and unfamiliar ground begins. We see trouble along ethnic, religious and economic lines of division every day in our multicultural society, and from the very beginning, when Jewish and Gentile Christians couldn’t agree on dietary rules, the Church has constantly struggled with disagreements and divisions. But boundaries can be exciting places too - departure points for new adventures, new understandings. For Lent then, here is an invitation to venture beyond safe ground and to see what the Gospel looks like through other eyes.
