The Gregorian Singers were founded in 1973 by Monte Mason as a men's chant choir to sing for the service of Compline at the Cathedral of St. Mark in Minneapolis. With the addition of women to the choir in 1980, and the desire to perform a broad spectrum of sacred choral music, the choir's name became less descriptive. However the choir still maintains an active interest in chant, and concludes each rehearsal with the chanting of Compline.
